The Subject Of Quitting

never quitYou know, there is a disease rampant in the world.  This disease has as it’s main symptom the idea that failure is real and possible.  This is very odd.

I talk to a lot of people who call me for help, or information about various marketing opportunities, usually my own, and there is one thing that way too many people express which is along these lines:  “Well, if it doesn’t work out, I’ll just quit”.

Usually, it is not phrased exactly that way but that is the idea.  This is an “I’ll give it a try” type of veiwpoint. As far as I’m concerned this is a definite plan for no results.

At the heart of this disease is the deep consideration, the continuing thought in the minds of these folks that there is some other force outside of themselves which is causing, or not causing their success.  And suffering from such a disease these people have become the effect of the world around them, rather than being cause over it.

You will not find a seven-figure earner who thinks this way.

Not one.

Why?  Because if they did, they would not be a seven-figure earner.

These guys know that THEY are the one controlling the outcome.

It is not some vague unmanageable force out there in the world which dictates what YOU do with YOUR business.  THAT is YOUR job!

YOU determine the outcome.

So, if you are going about with the constant viewpoint that failure is a real, legitimate thing and well, “that’s just the way things go…”, I’m very sorry.

I would like to respectfully inform you that that is NOT the way things go.

Is there such a thing as a crap product?  Yes.  Is there such a thing as an uncompetitive compensation plan?  Yes.  So you are saying, “Well Alan, if there is such a thing as bad products and uncompetitive compensation plans, and I have a bad comp plan, then how can I possibly succeed?”.   Well,  what the hell are you doing working an opportunity with a horrible compensation plan?  Did someone strap you down with duct tape and burn you with a branding iron until you joined and pledged by the blood of your offspring that you would stay committed to this bad program for the rest of your days?

Well?

You are the cause, not the effect.

If your company, or product or comp plan are uncompetitive then change gears and find a better one and get to work!  Sheesh!

The truth is that the very great majority will get in, do almost nothing work-wise, learning-wise, etc.  And after about 6 weeks then its, “Oh, I just don’t know if this is for me.  I’m not getting much from it… blah, blah, blah….”.   Oh please!

It’s not what you are getting out of it.  It’s what you are putting into it.

And if you think that there is really such a thing as failure you are kidding yourself.

I would like to share with you something that is printed right on the Home page of one of our team training sites, for those brave souls who took the plunge and joined out group.

When in doubt refer to the following:

Do not ever, ever quit.  There is NO such thing as failure.  Some want to think that failure is a real thing because then they can have an excuse as to why they are not getting the results that they should.  This is a completely false idea.  There is no such thing as failure.  It is an invented idea. There is such a thing as not following through.  There is such a thing as not putting in the necessary work to learn, to develop, to perfect, etc.  There is such a thing as quitting. Quitting is the truthFailure is a lie.

If you think failure is a real thing, make a conscious decision right now that there is no such thing.  If you find this to be difficult, well, congratulations, you are human.  Reread the paragraph above as many times as you need to.  Nothing is truly “real” to you until you have experienced it yourself.  This may not be “real” to you at this moment.

Be assured that if you are reading this page right now that you have all the ability and tools that you need to make this go right.  There is no such thing as failure.  If you are still operating on a “maybe I’ll see how this goes…” type of mentality… make a new decision.  That mentality will have one result.  Quitting.  There is no such thing as failure.  The only way you fail is if you quit.

Some will progress faster then others.  There is such a thing as talent.  This does not mean failure is allowable.  Get the “failure” idea out of your head.  It does not exists.  This is factual.  And if you just never, ever quit, and you continue to learn and work and follow through, you will see clearly for yourself that this IS factual.

Perhaps the best gift we could give you, if we provided nothing else, is the absolute assurance that failure is a lie, a fraud, a false idea that someone else put into your head for you.

Get the idea of what your ideal scene is for your business.  Get the idea of what it would take for you to have to quit your “day-job”, for example.  Get that idea and then get the idea that you WILL accomplish that goal.

When you do this you  will probably find that you have other ideas come into your head, which are along these lines, “Yeah, but what if such and such doesn’t happen…”, or “Well, but I’m not (plug in great marketer here) so I’m not sure if I can do that…”, and so on.

These thoughts are what is known as “doubt”.

These “counter-thoughts” are the false ideas.  It is these thoughts that believe in failure.  It is these thoughts that allow you to quit and not follow-through, and to procrastinate and so on.  It is not you.  These are the thoughts that were put there by others as you came through life.  Just ignore these thoughts.  Simply disregard them and put your attention on the next step toward your goal.  It may seem just too simple.  Simply ignore the “doubt”.

Again, failure is a lie.  Give yourself the opportunity and support to prove this to yourself.  You deserve success.  YOU are the only one who can prevent it.

I hope the preceding has found a nerve to strike in you and you find some value in this.
