The Ageless Flame

The following was written by my friend Miranda when she was 14… she recently sent to me as a New Year’s message.  (When I was 14 I was doing much less productive things.. lol)

The child embraces the speeding storm

And it carries her off in a fit of hunger.

She rises to the Heavens

And floats amidst the Stars.

Darkness comes

and all is swept away.

She stands alone in a timeless void,

in the midst of Nothingness,

at the Beginning of All.

Her eyes wander

and find nothing ever was real.

She reaches out with curious fingers,

that warm to the touch

of an unseen Flame.

Her heart weeps of a renewed joy

for here is her happiness,

her pleasure, revived.

She drifts closer,

its flickering flames licking her skin.

She becomes engulfed by its heat

and she gains a glorious power

and strength is returned.

For the Flame is Eternal,

the Beginning of Life itself.

It holds within it

the Seed of Time.

The child knows this

and cherishes it all the more,

for it has set free her soul.

There are no boundaries

which she cannot cross.

And she knows she will return

to this endless Nothingness

and this place that began Everything.

For here, all journeys begin.

And the Flame that kindles All

will receive each curious child

who intends to seek its cheer.

She called it the Ageless Flame,

for its light will never dim,

its Flame never grow cold.

And it was never born,

it just was.
