Using RSS Feeds To Get Traffic…
Not too many people using RSS Feeds to get traffic,
at least that I know of.
Perhaps the biggest key to getting your pages found
in the organic search engine results is the number
of back-links to your page, from relevant content sites.
Using RSS fees is a very easy way to get automatic
back-links.
Not sure why more people don’t talk about this.
If someone is subscribed to the RSS feed of your
website they will automatically get an update each
time you update the content on your site.
“Feed Readers” or “Feed Aggregators” can be used to
gather the feed coming from your site. “Google Reader” is
one. “Live Bookmarks” has one. There are literally
hundreds.
You can sign up at a number of these sites and subscribe
to your own feed, or any feed you want for that matter.
Then each time your content on your website is updated,
there is another back-link as the Feed Reader/Aggregator
is updated.
So, if you have 100 of them going, that is 100 new back-links
for each change to your site.
But it is not just your site which you should be getting
back links to. It is videos, blog posts, Twitter Profiles, etc.
Just link them all around, intertwined. You know, HubPages
article linked to a Digg story, linked to a EzineArticle,
linked to a YouTube video, then to your site.
Get creative with it.
These should all be keyworded for your target keywords
obviously.
One thing to know is that most of these other video and
bookmarking and article sites also have RSS feeds.
YouTube is a very powerful site for getting traffic simply
due to it’s own popularity and due to the fact that Google’s
search function loves YouTube videos. After all, it is part
of Google.
Did you know how to create an RSS feed for your YouTube
channel so you can automatically get back-links each time
you post a new video?
This is a hard one to find.
But it’s very simple.
Use this url:
http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/Username/uploads
Just replace the “Username” with your YouTube channel username.
Take that url and plug it in to your Feed Reader and you are good
to go!
