Hey, thanks Assholes! We really appreciate all your doing for our world.
I mean, I’m sure we all appreciate the fact that the oil drilling is absolutely neccessary because… well, er, I guess because there are some extremely, extremely wealth people who need to generate more profits.
This is completely aside from the fact that the technology exists to provide enough energy for the entire planed for the next 1,000,000 years via geothermal, solar, wind, and wave energy. Ooops! I know you big oil big-wigs don’t want everyone to know that. Sorry!
Yes, we do have all the technology right now to NEVER neccesitate burning fossil fuels ever again. Why don’t we use it? Well, because it would cost money! Money, money, money. How about the fact that the oil companies have more than enough money to put in place enough of this technology to completely elimiate the need for fossil fuel? Well… that sure wouldn’t make that small group of rich guys any more money would it? I mean, to whom would they sell their oil? I mean, those guys might actually have to find something else to do besides destroying the entire ecosystem for profit.
Nice one BP.
I would just like to thank you on behalf of all the tropical birds, fish, manatees, dolphins, sharks, stingrays, shrimp, clams, oysters, plant life, fisherman, etc. whose lives you have ended or destroyed for all practical purposes. Bravo!
I for one, am sure looking forward to paying $300 for a shrimp cocktail.
And by the way, the environment isn’t going to recover from this any time soon, if ever. Next year for fishing? Hmmm. Okay, let’s kill off all the fish and birds (most of which are here due to migration – Yay! You managed to destroy wildlife that is here on vacation too!). Are we to expect the entire ecosystem to recover in a year? Two years? I’m afraid it’s just not ever going to be the same. You can’t just kill an ecosystem and expect it to “recover”.
I’m sure if you are a big-time oil executive you are probably the type of person who’s daddy told him, “go out there and make your mark on the world Son!”.
Well, good job. You’ve done it haven’t you?
Oh, and I’m sure we all appreciate your massive contribution to the Oh So Wonderful economy that we have going right now. We were all thinking that we could use another entire industry out of work. Fishermen, sponge farmers, oyster harvesters, seafood restauarants. We could go on for weeks. And we don’t even need to touch on what kind of an effect this will have on tourism– as if turning all the hotels into condos wasn’t detrimental enough for Florida!
So thank you Big Oil for your contributions to our world! May your afterlife consist of being repeatedly raped by giant manatees.
Oh, and I’m wondering how many of your board members and stock-holders will actually be venturing out into the gulf to get your hands dirty in the cleanup attempt. Not many I’ll bet.
For those of you reading this article who are thinking, “Well, but I need gas for my car!”, know that the technology DOES exist right now so that we never need to use oil, or any fossil fuel ever again, and we have way more than enough to accomdate all our energy needs forever. The reason that not many people know about this is simply due to suppression of the technology by those in positions to profit from the status quo. The technology in this area is so advanced in comparison to what the average person is aware of, that you probably wouldn’t believe it.
“If there is no money in it it won’t get done”.
The filthy rich energy companies do have the resources to put this technology to work right now. But they won’t. No profits.
Such a thing makes me ashamed to say that I am part of the same species.
And as an aside, I would also like to thank Exxon for their years of knowingly and willingly pouring millions of gallons of oil waste into Equador’s ecosystem. The great thing about freedom is that if you are limited by some pesky environmental laws, you can always move operations to somewhere where there are none, or they aren’t enforced. Bravo to Exxon for their smart, profit-saving business ideas!
