A Bit About Lead Sources:
It seems to me that most newbies are interested in that one single lead source that is going to make it for them. Maybe there are people out there that operate with one single method for their online lead generation but I certainly am not one of them.
Anyone who was fully engaged in Google PPC with no other lead sources has felt the pain over the last 8 months or so since Google quite allowing affiliate links and network marketing advertising in Google Adwords. Putting “all your eggs in one basket” is not something I recommend either for income streams or for lead generation. Be sure to watch the video below.
Having Multiple Lead Sources Is Safer And More Stable
Well, if you have a table with four legs and pull one leg out the table can still stand. If you have it balancing on just one leg and you pull the leg out… well… that’s a clear picture isn’t it? This is interesting because during my 12 years of off-line network marketing I used mainly one strategy for incoming leads, but I used multiple sources. Sometimes those sources were in operation all at once. Sometimes just one and I would use the others as an adjunct to stabilize. It depends on what ads you are running and such. Sometimes running the same ads over and over will “spend the source”, meaning the ads become ineffective.
But since I began marketing exclusively online in about Sept of 2009, I have always had multiple lead sources.
There are two things to know about lead sources:
1. Having several lead sources, even if they only produce just a few leads each day a piece can end you up with quite a lot of leads and an expanding business, and…
2. You don’t need to put them all in at the same time. Get the first on up and producing, then automate it as much as possible so that it is “hand-off”, then put the next one in.
So, let’s say it takes you 2 or 3 weeks in the beginning of your marketing career to get 4 lead sources up and running and each one produces only 2 leads per day. Heck, that’s 8 opt-in leads every single day. Do you know that is more leads than 98% of all network marketers on the planet will ever work to generate? Just that, if you just continue with those lead sources, will grow your business steadily.
Can You Have Too Many Lead Sources?
Strangely, yes. In this business it is very easy to get overwhelmed with information and training and actions to do. There are so many new products coming out all the time and so many new programs that it makes it easy to feel like you are getting left behind. But all these new products and strategies do not necessarily mean that the older strategies do not work.
I mean, do you realize that it is still VERY workable to actually contact a person one on one and introduce yourself and get into a conversation and really get to know someone?! What a concept!
Everyone is looking for the “magic” of the internet as if it’s some metaphysical lottery.
It’s not.
But you can get involved in trying to put in too many things at once and get so overwhelmed that you just end up quitting. Don’t torture yourself like that.
Just follow #2 above, and put your lead sources in one at a time.
Easy Way To Track Lead Sources:
In this video I show you some examples of what are my current lead sources and I show you a very easy and free way to track those lead sources so that you have just some idea of where the traffic is coming from. You can pay $20 per month for a fancy link tracker like HyperTracker, but they you have another learning curve to deal with and really until you start getting up to where you have like 10+ lead sources and you just can’t even keep track of where everything is coming from you can do it manually.

If you care to review them, some of my lead sources are Tweet Adder for Twitter Marketing, Lead Net Pro, and Search Engines(opt in on the right to get the Stupid Simple Traffic Strategy if you have not yet). Using search engines has always been my favorite because it’s permanent, and it’s like having unlimited lead sources and continues to grow over time, as long as I’m working and doing my SEO thing.
